Game analysis
(courtesy of Andy Topper)

I do think that FHS came out more agressive then OHS and won most of the 50-50 balls, especially in the mid-field in the first half. I think their goal was a good one, because the initial stop made by Casey was excellent, but it just fell to their star player - Stacy (#6) - who put it into the net.

I thought the 2nd half belonged to OHS, with a few exceptions. I thought we dominated play and had plenty of chances to score, especially on a nice free kick from Adam that Smitty just missed getting his foot on, but we were a bit unlucky. That's how it goes sometimes.

I also thought their 2nd goal, which was called offside, was one that would have been a killer if it had stood up. But our guys kept fighting, a tribute to their tenacity, and got more chances to equalize. Another good chance for OHS came when Adam dribbled through most of the FHS defense and his shot went just wide of the post.

All in all, a very hard and good game with OHS just coming up a bit short in the end. I do think the FHS players were very physical, with 4 yellow cards shown to their players, but their counter attacking style kept OHS off balance.

Tribute to the Bench

I got to know the Bench pretty well in highschool and realized that these guys work hard and are a very important part of the team. So, here's my salute to you guys! Thank you for all you've done for the team this season; we all look forward to watching you guys blossom next year!

Pat Rawsthorne (just after knee surgery) &
Scott Branta watching the Howell match.

Making the best of waiting for their opportunity to play vs. Howell are Morgan Ridings, Josh Peters and Pat Gietzen.
