vs. Dewitt - 10/25/03
Heckuva game girls! You fought tooth-n-nail for every loose ball and gave it all you had. We were all very proud of your grit and performance for your last game of the fall season. While Dewitt won on the scoreboard 2-0 you girls won our hearts! Our end-of-the-season dinner party at Old Country Buffet was a fun way to wrap up the fall. Our many thanks to you girls for all your hard work and to the coaches for their incredible time investment and energies towards helping our girls become better players.

Player Highlights

Julia (#12) has really enjoyed soccer this year. She usually plays defense but occasionally forward. Basketball is her favorite sport. She likes to rollerblade and she takes jazz. Playing after school with Nicki is her favorite thing to do...homework is her least favorite!

This is Stephanie (#8). She's really picked up her game this season and has a very bright future in the game. Just check out her fancy move (lower left shot from the Dewitt game)!

Here's Dana, one of our front-line
sprinters, in her pre-game warmup.
Dana's played for many years now and loves those break-aways as you can see from the photo up above from the Dewitt match. Keep up the good work Dana!

...and there goes Vanessa on another attack!
vs. Eaton Rapids - 10/12/03
We all enjoyed watching our girls play another game under another awesome autumn sky at N. Meridian Rd. Park. It was a hard-fought game with lots of physical action both ways finally. Take a look at some of the photos in this series for proof! The ER girls managed to put in more goals than our Dynamite (sorry, don't recall the final score), but all-in-all we were very proud of their improved spunk and aggressiveness for the ball.

Nicole (Nicki, #10)) loves to play soccer, she loves to score goals. Her favorite positions are forward and mid-field. She has been playing soccer since Kindergarten. Having two older brothers she comes by her competitiveness honestly. She loves when they come and cheer her on. Nicki also enjoys waterskiing, basketball, piano and dance. She has a yellow lab named Abby who loves to swim with her at her cottage on Gull Lake.

Julie (#1) is one tough fighter for those loose balls. Her spunk never seems to give up when the going gets tough!

Kelly going shoulder-to-shoulder for loose a ball.
vs. Charlotte - 10/5/03
Under one of the most beautiful fall skies of the year, the Dynamites battled their S. West rivals at the N. Meridian Rd. Park. Our tough defense and keeper allowed only 1 goal during this rough & tough match. Final score: 1-0 Charlotte

for a target to throw to.

Player (& sibling) Highlights

Sara (#6) is the Dynamite's go-anywhere player. While she's usually a forward, the team can count on Sara to hustle back and help in mid-field and defense in the blink of an eye it seems! Sara has played for many years and will most surely have many more years of playing ahead of her.

Here is Zach (above), Sarah's brother & our head Coach's son &
the ever faithful team helper.

vs. E. Lansing - 9/26/03
Unfortunately, I couldn't be there for the whole game, but from what I saw in the first half the girls were looking pretty strong. I believe the Dynamite gave up a few goals to lose this match, but they didn't give up their spirit for the game! No sir!

Nicki charging over the half
towards the EL goal.
Player Highlights

Our starting goal keeper, Michelle has played for a few years and it shows in goal. She has shut down a lot of attacks in this very tough position (probably the toughest if you've ever played it!). She's really got a good drop-kick too! Keep up the good work keeper!

Below is Kelly (#3) who is a big Mia Hamm fan and headed for big things in soccer. She's got big heart and focus. Look for her to play anywhere on the field
(except goal ;-) with gusto.

Sarah helping out on defense.

Michelle holding her own in the goal box waiting for a corner kick.
vs. Haslett - 9/20/03
Another tough game for the Dynamite at the N. Meridian Rd. Park. The girls played very hard, took (and gave) a few bumps and bruises but couldn't quite finish on a few chances on goal and let a couple thru our defense in the 2nd half. Final score, Dynamite 1, Haslett 2

Player Highlights

Wendy (#14) is normally found sweeping (defense) or occasionally in the mid-field. Here she is in goal for the Haslett game. Fortunately I took this photo before Haslett scored on her! Wendy started playing when she was in kindergarten. She's learned a thing or 2 from her older brother Alex (who's on the Okemos Varsity soccer team this fall). She loves her puppy Moose, drawing pictures and reading. Her mom played soccer when she was in elementary school too until they found out she was a girl!

This is Rachel (#4) taking a well-deserved break. Her smile is pretty infectious on the field and helps the team anywhere the coach sends her.

Sarah on the attack in the mid-field.

vs. St. Johns - 9/14/03

The girls played an awesome game way out in the country against St. Johns. Their hard week of practice paid off! They finished the match 5-1. Way to go girls!

Vanessa battling for the ball in the 1st half.

Michelle sending another ball WAY DOWN field; what determination!
Player Highlights

This is Anna (#7). She's doing a great job on defense. Anna started playing soccer in Kindergarten at a few of the SoccerZone camps. Her first official season was last Fall when she played OAKS. She is a dog-lover! She loves school, helping others, and enjoys playing Neo-Pets. She likes to eat at Cracker Barrel and her uncle's new restaurant, Mike's Firehouse Grill. Her specialty is defense and she's looking forward to many more wins with Okemos Dynamite!

This is Vanessa (#5), our tough and quick as a spark-plug defender. She's ready for any challenge that comes straight at her and gives every shot all she's got.

Go Rachel go!

Here goes Kelly on the attack!

vs. Williamston - 9/6/03

The Dynamites came out looking pretty good for their season opener with lots of spirited play in the mid-field and on both ends. Unfortunately the Dynos had trouble putting the ball between the posts and lost this first match 5-0 (roughly).

Rachel is helping Coach Kovan get the subs moving along.

Here's Julie taking it to a couple Williamston players in the mid-field.
Player Highlights

This is Hannah (#2). You can find her playing either defense or mid-field. She's got a great foot as we all know now from the St. John's game where legend has it she bent one right into the goal off a corner kick!

This is Chloe (#13), our backup goal keeper and play-anywhere girl when she's not in goal. Keep 'em honest and let 'em know who's boss Chloe!
